The History of Birth
This section is all about the 'nitty gritty' truth of obstetrics. Not the what has been taught in nursing/med school or readily accessible online. We are talking about the abolishment of TRUE midwives, how licensure took the rights of the mothers, and how obstetrics is a money-making pit for OB's and CNM's. With this information, you'll get a larger understanding of WHY providers make the decisions they do and how you can navigate them.
'Normal' Birth Education
Understanding the psychological and physiological process of birth gives you a deeper foundation in trusting your body. Knowing how your body and baby passively work together allows you to let go of control and expectations, giving yourself grace and patience in the birth process.

I know it, birth is unpredictable. This module is all about how to deal with emergencies without the coercive mentality many providers display. If your baby is showing signs of distress, you'll know how to make informed decisions. You'll be able to decipher the difference between degree vs. desire and learn to 'stand your ground' when your decisions are not what your provider recommends.

+ I'm feeling scared going against my doctor's advice. What if something was actually wrong?
This course isn't teaching you about going against doctor's advice. It's guiding you to follow your intuition. It sucks being coerced or manipulated into doing something you don't want to. This course helps you get out of your head and have confidence to request the things you want since you will be informed.
+ How does this class differ from any other child birth education course?
This course isn't centered around the mechanics of birth. While we do learn the basics of physiological birth, IBC is more for those who want to learn the definition of autonomy and how to implement it in their birth space.
+ Can my partner or my mom take this class?
I encourage everyone to take this course. That being said, I recommend you taking the course for yourself and your partner can join you!
+ Will I need to invest in any other birth prep courses?
No! I have made my course all inclusive. We will go over all normal birth education (i.e. the physiological and psychological process), comfort measures, and how to make a birth plan.
+ Do I get the whole course at once?
In short, no. A new module will release every week on Monday. I did this because I want us to be able to focus on each module entirely and then come together for our weekly Zoom meetings with a 'uncluttered' mindset. Each module will have some work to be done, whether it's a hand out, guide, or resource so being able to focus solely on those is key🔑
+ I still want to get an epidural, is it worth it to get this course?
The course is designed to educate yourself so you can make autonomous and 'whole body YES' decisions. It's not to pressure you into an unmedicated or natural birth.
Birth can be overwhelming, but it can also be empowering and beautiful.

I went from being medically assaulted in the birth of my daughter 5 years ago to picking every member of my birth team and making decisions for myself without having to fear someone pushing something on me in the birth of my son.
It was freeing, redemptive, and left me on a high. I wanted to share my story with everyone.
I took everything I learned in those experiences, as a mom and a student midwife, plus the experiences of my clients and people I serve, and compiled it into an 8 week long course.
I don't claim that my course is going to fix all of your problems or that it the magic key to having a successful birth, because much of the work is inside of you, but it is the perfect tool to have in your tool kit to help you achieve all the things you desire to have in your birth.
